Sept. 8th 2008 meeting was called
to order by President Shannon Huet at 11:00 am. In attendance were
President- Shannon Huet, Vice-President- Lori Valantiejus, and Secretary-
Dana Tenaglia.
The first item of discussion was the possibility of installing security
cameras in the neighborhood entrance to deter crime in our neighborhood. We
had three quotes up to $10,000. At this time Nick Touchton - Crime Watch is
looking for a system that would most suit our needs that is in an affordable
price range.
$50 was approved to spend on Fall decorations for the YCE entrance sign
area. These items will be used again in future years.
It was also approved to provide holiday luminaries for all dues paying
residents for the month of December. We would need volunteers to distribute
the bags and candles to the households. There would be approximately 250
households receiving 15 bags each and candles.
Next up for discussion was trying to put together a Holiday homes tour this
year as a neighborhood fundraiser. We would need at least 5 homes to
provide at least 1 room in their home with decorations to display to Yacht
Club and Causeway residents. They would each provide a drink or appetizer.
The cost of admission will be $15. The night of this tour would be selected
by the people displaying their homes. This would be the same night to burn
the neighborhood luminaries throughout the community.
Shannon and I will solicite the
homes for this event
With Volunteers- We could possibly have a holiday parade this year with
floats, golf carts and carolers. We would also like to do this on the same
night as the Holiday homes tour. We need volunteers to help organize this
event for it to happen.
Shannon brought up having an Island Car and Motor Cycle show for
discussion. We would have entry forms via e-mail. This would occur in Jan.
or Feb. 2009. Causeway Isles – Marilyn Massimore donated trophies to be
given out at this event for cars. New name plaques would need to be
supplied for the different categories. We discussed having a bicycle rodeo
the same day as family event. We would need at least 5 volunteers for
this event. Police officer Sgt Moushon said he could give us a possible
contact for the bicycle rodeo.
We are in the process of having a YCE logo created. When it has been
approved, we may consider having tumblers, coozy's and other small items
with the YCE logo printed on them. These would be available for our
residents to purchase.
We will have a boat flag/ Burgee contest within our neighborhood. Our most
creative neighbor that designs the best BOAT flag will be announced the
winner at our annual meeting in Jan 09. We will post information about this
contest in our newsletter and on our website.
Our devoted U.S. troops need our support. They need toiletries, food and
snacks. We will be sending an email to our residents requesting their
donations to be dropped off at Shannon Huet's home at 7980 9th Ave South.
Money donations are also very much needed by the troops. If you would
consider a money order or check to the troops, make it payable to Postmaster
and mail to P.O. Box 86223 Madeira Beach, FL 33738.
Next was a creation of the Sunshine committee. This would be a YCE resident
member that is willing to write to neighborhood residents who are
ill, condolence for those who pass away, congratulations cards for the birth
of new babies. Residents would notify our sunshine person to send the
appropriate card.
The meeting was adjourned. Respectfully submitted Dana Tenaglia
Next City Members held a meeting
with our neighborhood board.
