City Beautiful Commission to Award Annual Home of the Year
The St. Petersburg City Beautiful Commission has announced -- a "Home of the Year" program. The Home of the Year Award will recognize the contributions made by residents for outstanding efforts in landscaping and maintenance of their homes.

Our YCE Association board has nominated the home of John and Sandy Coryn @ 1270 79th St. S. to The City Beautiful Commission for consideration. This home was chosen for its attention to detail. The Florida style home was purchased in 1993. John and Sandy have completed several quality renovations through the years. Notably, the exterior of the home is detailed with the extensive wood work. The architectural design of the home with its water wise landscape is impeccable from every angle of the property. In 2006, the pool and outdoor living / landscape area had been updated to add a tropical flair of color and balance that blends with the conservation of existing large oak trees on the property. This home with its abundant gardens and overall street appeal contributes to the charm of our neighborhood.

The City of St. Petersburg City Beautiful Commission would like to congratulate Yacht Club Estate Neighborhood Association for their winning entry for the Home of the Year category. The home located at 1270 79th Street South was this years winner.

The City Beautiful Commission was formed in 1961 and consists of a 15-member body appointed by City Council to assist and promote public activities to further the beautification of St. Petersburg that result in an attractive, well maintained City. This is the Commission's 42nd year presenting these awards.

Two professional landscape architects from outside the city chose the property by recognizing your outstanding achievement in landscaping, unique garden design and maintenance.

As an award winner, you are invited to attend a special ceremony presented by the City Beautiful Commission and attended by local dignitaries. Mayor Rick Baker will formally present your award and Channel 35 will cover this program. Enclosed is your formal invitation. Each winner is welcomed to invite up to five guests.
